Capriol Suite

Composer: WARLOCK, Peter
  • Warlock composed this neo-Renaissance dance suite for strings in 1926.1
  • Warlock wrote this suite while he was working on several early-music research projects, including a project on Carlo Gesualdo and book entitled The English Ayre.2
  • Warlock dedicated this suite to French composer Paul Ladmirault.3

Each movement is inspired by a Renaissance / Baroque dance form; click the titles for descriptions.4
