- William Walton composed his score for Lawrence Olivier’s film Henry V in 1943-4. The film was an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Henry V.
- Walton also scored three other Olivier Shakespeare films: As You Like It (1936), Hamlet (1947), and Richard III (1955).
- Henry V was one of several patriotic films which Walton scored during the Second World War.
- Walton’s score for Henry V spawned a choral suite in 1945 (arr. Malcolm Sargent) and an orchestral suite in 1963 (arr. Muir Mathieson)1
