- Vaughan Williams’ Romance and Pastorale was written in 1914 and published in 1923.
- The two-movement work for violin and piano was dedicated to Dorothy Longman, a violinist and wife of publisher R J Longman.1
- Interestingly, this work was written the same year as a much more well-known “Romance,” The Lark Ascending.
