- Isabella is a one-act operetta that premiered in Vienna in 1869, with libretto written by poet Josef Weyl (1821-1895).1
- Fun fact: Josef Weyl was also associated with Johann Strauss II and wrote the words for The Beautiful Blue Danube in its original iteration as a choral waltz.
- While most of Suppé’s stage works are relatively unknown today, his overtures have remained popular pieces for the concert hall.
