Folk Suite No. 2

  • Folk Suite No. 2 is the second of four Folk Suites Still wrote for chamber ensemble in 1962 (see page for No. 4). These Folk Suites draw on music from many different cultures and regions.1
  • Still originally scored this suite for flute, clarinet, cello, and piano (or harp). Several arrangements by other composers have been published as well.2
  • Folk Suite No. 2 consists of four movements:
    1. El Zapatero (Spanish California)
    2. Mo’le (Peru)
    3. Momzelle Zizi (Louisiana Creole)
    4. Peruvian Melody (Incan)3
