- Written around 1745 while the composer was serving the Prussian Court (see bio page for more), Quantz’s Flute Concerto in G Major is one of nearly 300 flute concertos that the composer wrote during his lifetime.
- Following the composer’s death, the concerto fell into obscurity for over a century, when it was rediscovered by flutist Moritz Fürstenau in the Royal Saxon Private Musical Collection. Ever since, the piece has been a staple for flutists in the concert hall for it’s effervescence and charm.1
