Quintet for Piano and Strings

Composer: PRICE, Florence
  • The surviving manuscript of this piece does not identify its date. Price did write a Piano Quintet in E minor in 1936, which premiered in a performance by Marion Hall and the Forum String Quartet in Chicago on June 15, 1937.1 However, Paul Laraia, violist of the Catalyst Quartet (who made the premiere recording of this work), argues that this piece is stylistically inconsistent with Price’s 1930s compositional style.2
