Preludio mexicano, “Cielito lindo”

  • Ponce wrote a number of piano works with the designation preludio mexicano.1 Several of them, including this one, are adaptations of popular songs. This prelude is based on a song entitled Cielito lindo by Quirino Mendoza.2
  • Ponce composed this work circa 1913.3
