  • This piece comes from Pierné’s incidental music to the a dramatized adaptation of Pierre Loti’s novel Ramuntcho (1897). The piece premiered in 1908.1
  • Story: in Ramuntcho, the title character is a young man, son of Parisian and Basque parents, trying to fit in with his fellow Basques despite feeling torn between Parisian and Basque cultures.2
