Escualo (“Dogfish,” arr. Milone)

Composer: PIAZZOLLA, Astor
  • This piece was composed in 1979.1
  • As is the case with many of his works, Piazzolla wrote this piece for the ensemble with which he was currently touring: his Quintet formed in 1978. He wrote this piece while he was touring internationally with them.2
  • The ever changing tempos in Escualo are so challenging that when Suárez Paz, the Quintet’s violinist, brought the score with him on vacation, he ended up working through his entire vacation just trying to learn it.3
