Symphony No. 1 in G Major

Composer: PARRY, Sir Charles Hubert Hastings
  • Parry composed this symphony during 1880-82. It premiered in Birmingham on August 31, 1882.1  Parry conducted the performance.2
    • The premiere was a success, and Parry’s symphony was praised by contemporaries including Gounod and Sir John Stainer. 
  • Parry dedicated this work to his wife, Lady Maude Herbert.3
