- Composed in 1775
- K. 218 is the fourth of five violin concertos that Mozart composed while still living in Salzburg, and all five were only published after the composer’s death.1
- Three movements:
- Allegro
- Andante cantabile
- Rondeau. Andante grazioso2
- Fun fact – Mozart’s father, Leopold, was an exceptional violinist who would have trained the young composer on the instrument from an early age. The same year that Wolfgang was born, Leopold published an important treatise called Versuch einer gründlichen Violinschule (“A Treatise on the Fundamental Principles of Violin Playing”).3
