Hymne de l’enfant à son réveil

Composer: LISZT, Franz
  • Hymne de l’enfant à son réveil actually started out as a choral piece by Liszt, a setting of a poem by Alphonse de Lamartine.1
  • The piano solo version of this piece comes from a cycle of piano works by Liszt entitled Harmonies poétiques et religieuses. You can read the full contents list here
  • Liszt revised this set and the pieces in it many times (there are three complete versions). He completed the first version in 1840, and that version was dedicated to Lamartine. The second and third versions, of 1848 and 1853, were dedicated to Liszt’s partner Caroline zu Sayn-Wittgenstein.2
