- Lecuona composed Andalucía: Suite Española (Andalucia: Spanish Suite) around 1927. The suite is alternately known as “Andalucía,” “Spanish Suite,” or “Suite Española.”
- The suite remained relatively unknown until pianist Thomas Tirino worked to champion the music of Lecuona in the 1990s.
- Lecuona recycled several of the movements of this suite as songs. The sixth movement, “Malagueña,” has been often excerpted and performed both as a guitar arrangement and a popular song.1
