Julius Caesar, Symphonic Epilogue after Shakespeare, Op. 28

Composer: KURKA, Robert
  • Composed in 1955, Kurka’s Julius Caesar: Symphonic Epilogue after Shakespeare was based on Shakespeare’s tragic play.
  • Kurka evokes specific characterizations and moments throughout the play in his music, from the bold theme of conquest at the start to the dirge-like coda at the end. The famous assassination of Caesar is told at the center of the piece through a simple march that develops into ominous, terrifying doom.1
