Coriolanus

Composer: JENKINS, Cyril

Written in 1920, Coriolanus is a three-movement work for brass band inspired by the Shakespeare play:
1. Maestoso – Allegro agitato
2. Allegro moderato
3. Allegro agitato¹
The work became a test-piece (the principal brass band genre) for brass bands competing in national competitions.²
- Competing has been an essential component to British brass band tradition since the 19th century.
