Brook Green Suite (string orchestra)

  • This is one of Holst’s last works, composed on 1932, two years before he died. He was hospitalized while he composed it.1
  • Holst wrote this suite as a gift for the orchestra of the St. Paul’s Girls’ School in London, where he had served as Head of Music since 1905.2
  • Holst conducted the orchestra of the St. Paul’s Girls’ School in the premiere in 1934.3
  • Brook Green is the neighborhood in London where the St. Paul’s School is located.4
