Alleluia! O virga mediatrix

• Alleluia! O virga mediatrix (“O mediating branch”) is an Alleluia-verse for the Virgin. The verse is meant to accompany the singing of the Gospel at Mass.
• During the Medieval period, there was a common association with the words virgo (“virgin”) and virga (“branch” or “rod”) as well as verdant imagery in reference to the Virgin Mary.¹
