Symphony No. 2, Op. 48

• Hartmann completed his Second Symphony in E Major in 1848.¹
• We know Hartmann began work on this symphony in 1847 because he wrote about it to his friend Hans Christian Andersen:

“As for myself, I am writing a symphony now, leaving it to time and circumstances when there may be a use for it.”
