- These movements are selections from Handel’s Trio Sonata Op.5 no.4 in G Major, HWV 399.1
- Handel composed the trio sonata c.1737-1738 in London.2 Handel’s Op.5 collection was first published in 1739 by John Walsh.3
- Handel derived some of the material in this suite from earlier works: the overtures to his operas Athalia and Il pastor fido, his serenata Parnasso in Festa, and ballet music from his opera Alcina.4
