- In some editions the title is Melancolica.1
- This movement is dedicated to the Infanta Doña Isabel de Borbón.2 She was one of Spain’s last royals before the Second Spanish Republic. The monarchy fell during the reign of her nephew King Alfonso XIII and she died in 1931 soon after beginning a voluntary exile in France.
