- This aria is Juliet’s first aria in Act 1. Juliet has just made her first appearance in the opera, entering the Capulets’ ball with her nurse. The nurse tries to pique Juliet’s interest in Paris, a young count, but Juliet declares that she does not wish to marry and would rather live in the carefree dreams of youth.1
