- Glazunov composed his Svadebnoye shestviye (Wedding Procession), op. 21, for piano four-hands in 1888, and conducted the premier of the orchestral version in 1889. 1
- This piece was first performed at the St. Petersburg Russian Symphony Concerts, a series funded by Glazunov’s patron Mitrofan Belayev, who insisted that a work by Glazunov must be played on every program they presented.2
- Glazunov composed this piece in honor of his parents’ silver wedding anniversary.3
