- Frescobaldi published many toccatas for keyboard, and was one of the pioneers of the genre. His works were influential to the development of the toccata by later composers.2
- This arrangement is an update of an arrangement by Spanish cellist Gaspar Cassadó (1897-1966), who produced a number of cello arrangements of Baroque and Classical works.3
