  • Le Cabaret Overture, aka “Overture to a French Comedy,” op. 72a, is from Foulds’ incidental music for Deburau,1 a play by Sacha Guitry.
  • The play is about the 19th C. mime Jean-Gaspard Deburau, the actor who re-invented the character of the sad clown Pierrot.2
