- Louise Farrenc published this piece in 1861. It is a trio for clarinet (or violin), cello, and piano.1
- Farrenc dedicated this piece to Adolphe Leroy, a clarinetist and Farrenc’s teaching colleague at the Paris Conservatory.2
- This piece was originally published by Éditions Farrenc, the firm owned by Farrenc’s husband Aristide Farrenc. It may have been his suggestion to include a violin part as an alternative to the clarinet part: since piano trios with violin, cello and piano were much more common, a violin option could have increased sales.3
