- Lindley composed his Idyll for Two Pianos and Orchestra in 19421 and his manuscript performing edition of the full score it dated 1943.2
- Piano duo repertoire was a performing specialty of Lindley’s. He performed for 40 years in a piano duo with his former teacher Frank Hutchens.3
- Our music library’s recording of this work comes from the album Swagman’s Promenade: Australian Light Classics (ABC Classics 442374). In this recording, the piece has been by Isador Goodman for one piano and orchestra. Goodman was a friend of Lindley’s, and his colleague of at the NSW Conservatorium.4
