Sevillana, Op. 7

  • This is one of Elgar’s early works. He composed Sevillana in 1884 and it premiered the same year in Worcester. He revised the work in 1889.1
  • Elgar never actually visited Spain,2 despite composing several works inspired by that country’s music, including Spanish Serenade op.23 (1892) and The Black Knight op.25 (1889-93).3
