- Coleridge-Taylor wrote his Nonet in f minor while studying at the Royal College of Music. The first performance took place in 1894 as part of a student concert at RCM.
- Nonet in f minor consists of four movements and is scored for oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, violin, viola, cello, double bass, and piano. The fullness of Coleridge-Taylor’s writing makes the ensemble of nine players sound like an orchestra.
- Allegro energico
- Andante con moto
- Scherzo: Allegro
- Finale: Allegro vivace
- Nonet in f minor was never published during the composer’s lifetime.1
