Full name: Frances Ulric Cole (The composer’s parents were named Emilie Cole and Gustave Ulric.)1
- Cole studied at Julliard; additionally, her composition teachers included Nadia Boulanger, and her piano teachers included Josef Lhévinne.2
- Cole also had a career outside of music, as an editor: she was on the editorial staff of Time Magazine from 1945-1952.3
- Along with Amy Beach and Marion Bauer, Ulric Cole was among the founding members of the Society of American Women Composers.4
