- Musicologists can’t agree on when Chopin wrote this Waltz in a minor. Estimations range from as early as 1833 and as late as 1849 (the year of the composer’s death).
- We do know that the waltz wasn’t published until 1860 by Charlotte de Rothschild, along with Chopin’s Nocturne No. 21 in c minor.1
- While Waltz in a minor is considered to be one of Chopin’s most technically approachable piano works, the wistful character of the piece is no less affecting.
