- Chaminade’s Pas des écharpes (Scarf Dance) comes from her Callirhoë: Suite de piano: Six airs de dance, Op. 37. Chaminade arranged this piano suite from her ballet symphonique, Callirhoë, an orchestral work that premiered on March 16, 1888, in Marsailles.1
- Note that both the orchestral and piano versions of the Callirhoë suite are labeled Op. 37 in Chaminade’s catalogue, despite slightly different contents. Scores available here for comparison.
- Callirhoë is a nymph from Greek mythology.
- Throughout the 20th century, this was Chaminade’s most popular piano pieces.2
