- This is the Prelude: Moderato, in e minor, from Four Pieces for String Orchestra.
- This suite is comprised of four early piano or string works by Frank Bridge, selected and arranged for orchestra by Bridge scholar Paul Hindmarsh.
- This suite was commissioned by John Bishop of the Royal College of Music. The suite is dedicated to him (“To John, in memoriam”). Bishop commissioned this project to bring more of Bridge’s work before the public.
- This movement is based on a piano piece Bridge wrote early in his career, on a holiday at Cardigan, Wales in 1903.1
