  • Originally subtitled “Grande Valse espagnole,” Bonis wrote Les Gitanos (The Gypsies) for solo piano in 1891. The piece has also been arranged for four-hand piano and orchestra.
  • Bonis dedicated Les Gitanos to her father.1
  • Les Gitanos won first prize in a competition for a new waltz organized by Piano Soleil magazine and was first published by the magazine.2
