Symphony in C Major, Op. 1, No. 6

  • Beck’s 6 Symphonies (originally entitled 6 Overtures) were published in 1758.1
  • These are some of the very first classical symphonies.2
    • The Italian opera overture, also called sinfonia, was one of the Classical symphony’s ancestors, so it’s no surprise Beck originally called these works “overtures”3
