- Beach composed this work in 1928, while she was a master’s composition student at the Eastman School of Music. She originally wrote the work for piano, then arranged it for orchestra.1
- Howard Hanson, Eastman’s Director, conducted the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in the work’s premiere on June 8, 1928 in Kilbourn Recital Hall at Eastman.2
