  • Beach composed this piano miniature in 1925.1 The title is taken from Psalm 23 in the King James Version (Authorized Version) of the Bible.
    • In 1932, Beach would compose another short piano piece with a title from the Book of Psalms: Out of the Depths, Op. 130 (from the opening of Psalm 130). 
  • Beach was a devout Christian, and she composed frequently for the choir of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in New York, where she attended.2
