- Antonio Bazzini was a violinist, educator, and composer who was well-known during his lifetime as a virtuoso on the string instrument.
- As a professor at (and eventual director of) the Milan Conservatory, Bazzini’s pupils included Puccini and Mascagni.
- As a composer, much of Bazzini’s earlier works were written as show pieces for himself in concert on the violin. Later on in his career, his repertoire became more varied.1
