Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 in F Major, BWV 1047

• Bach composed this concerto by 1721, when it was included in the set of Six Concerts avec plusieurs Instruments which he sent to the Margrave of Brandenburg.¹
• In this concerto, the concertino (group of soloists) consists of trumpet, recorder/flute, oboe and violin. The ripieno (orchestra) consists of strings and continuo.²
• This concerto features virtuosic writing for the high, sweet clarino register of the trumpet. You can read more about baroque clarino playing here.
