Concerto in f minor, BWV 1056

Composer: BACH, Johann Sebastian
  • BWV 1056 is a lost Bach oboe concerto, which has been reconstructed in several versions by various scholars.1
  • Bach also arranged BWV 1056 as a harpsichord concerto, and sometimes it is billed as such.2
  • The Largo (or “Arioso”) from this work also appears as the sinfonia from Cantata BWV 156 (c1729) Ich steh mit einem Fuss im Grabe (“I Stand at the Threshold,” literally “I Stand with One Foot in the Grave”)3
