  • This suite was composed in 1946.1
  • This suite consists of arrangements of tunes from two actual books of Scottish airs and dances pub. C. 1790: Favorite New Country Dances as danced at the Assembly and Neil Gow’s Fashionable Dances As Danced at Edinburgh in 1787 and 1788.2
  • This suite was dedicated to Alwyn’s colleague Muir Mathieson, preeminent conductor of music for British film and the BBC.3
