- The symphonic poem, Eternal Longing, was written between 1903-05 and is based on poems by Hans Christian Andersen.1
- The piece was heavily influenced by the tone poems of late-Romantic composers such as Dvořák (the composer’s composition teacher) and Richard Strauss.2
