  • Bright composed this work in 1909.1
  • Bright revised this work in 1910, during a visit to Paris. It is one of her final concert compositions.2
  • Bright was particularly interested in the theme and variations form; her other works in this genre include Air with Variations, for orchestra (1890), Air with Variations, for string quartet (1888), and Variations on an Original Theme of Sir G.A. Macfarren’s, for two pianos (1894).3
