- Haydn composed this keyboard concerto by 17711 or 1772.2 The work was originally intended for harpsichord and orchestra.3
- Chronologically, this was probably Haydn’s 5th keyboard concerto, not his 4th.4
- In the spring of 1784, Maria Theresia von Paradis performed this concerto at the Concert Spirituel in Paris (one of the earliest public concert series).5
