Recorder Concerto No. 2 in D Major

  • Baston’s Six Concertos in Six Parts for Violins and Flutes, viz. a Fifth, Sixth and Consort Flute was published in London 1729.1
  • Many of Baston’s recorder concertos were performed at theaters at intermissions.2
  • John Baston generally played the recorder solo in his concertos. The concertos also feature prominent violin parts intended for his brother, Thomas, to play.3 Listen for violin solos in the third movement of this concerto.4
