Symphony No. 1 in c minor, Op. 32

Composer: FARRENC, Louise
  • Farrenc composed this symphony in 1841.1
  • Farrenc composed a total of three symphonies, all in the 1840s, and all of them remained unpublished during her lifetime. However, each of her symphonies received performances in Paris, and some were also performed further afield in Europe.2
  • This symphony reflects the German style of composition more than the French. For example, the slow introduction to the first movement is reminiscent of Beethoven’s style.3
