  • Ponce composed his most famous work, the song “Estrellita” (“Little Star”), in 1912, as part of his 2 Cantiones mexicanas (Two Mexican Songs).
  • Ponce wrote the texts for both songs in this set, and it was first published in Mexico City in 1914.1

Little star who shines so bright in Heaven, 
who knows about my love and sees my broken heart, 
come and tell me if my dear one loves me, 
life is sad and desolate when we are apart.
