- Mozart’s March K. 445 is scored for 2 horns and strings. It was first performed in Salzburg in the summer of 1780.
- Mozart intended this march to be performed with his Divertimento K334, which was composed in Salzburg in 1779-80 and is scored for the same forces.
- At the time he wrote these pieces, Mozart was also working for the Archbishop Colloredo, who was annoyed that Mozart was writing freelance instrumental music when he could have been writing more sacred music for the Archbishop (click here for more details on this awkward professional relationship)1
