Rondo for Violin and Orchestra in C Major, K. 373

  • This piece was composed in Vienna on April 2, 1781.1
  • This piece premiered April 8, 1781, in a concert at the home of Prince Rudolf Colloredo (father of Mozart’s soon-to-be ex-employer, Archbishop Colloredo). 
    • The soloist at the premiere was Antonio Brunetti, the leader of the Salzburg Court Orchestra. Brunetti is known to have performed Mozart’s violin concertos, too.
    • The concert also included Mozart’s Violin Sonata K. 379/373a, of which Mozart played the keyboard part.2
