- Gerónimo Giménez [heh-ROH-nee-moh hee-MEH-nes] was a child prodigy on the violin who began playing professionally by age 12.
- He enrolled at the Paris Conservatory in 1874, where he studied violin with Jean-Delphin Alard and composition with Ambroise Thomas.
- As a composer, Giménez was best known for writing zarzuela (Spanish operetta). He served as director of the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid.1
